Merseyside Poets, Writers & Artists Of The First World War - compiled by Lucy London

For the past 6 years or so Lucy London has been researching poets, writers and artists of the First World War and come across a great many who have a connection to the Merseyside area.
Wilfred Owen – who spent his formative years living in Birkenhead - needs no introduction and, although he was relatively unknown during his lifetime, is probably now the best known WW1 poet in the world. In stark contrast, others such as May Sinclair and Richard le Gallienne - to name but two - who were highly successful writers and world famous in their day, but are almost completely forgotten today.

This book contains a selection of poets, writers and artists from Merseyside and has brief biographies and, where possible, examples of their work.
